Back in the Habit.
We’ve waxed poetic many times about how to get yourself out the door for a run. Tell someone about it, write it down, create a training plan … the list goes on and on. And these are all absolutely valid ways to get yourself on the road.
For me, the bigger challenge lies in consistency. Especially right now, when I’m trying to get back in the habit again. I’ll have a great week and go for a couple weekly runs, and then I’ll go another week without once lacing up my shoes.
I guess it’s kind of like a binge diet, and since we all know that approach doesn’t work for your waistline, there’s no way it’ll get you to a race line, either. Focus on making regular weekly runs a HABIT. Go at the same time on the same day and keep it up until it becomes a habit.
Then, before you know it, Saturday mornings automatically become your designated long-run time, and you don’t even have to think about it for it to happen. — Aidz
